Parent/Pupil Cooking Workshop
School Food Matters visited our school last week and delivered a healthy meals cooking workshop for our parents and pupils. It was an opportunity for our pupils to participate in a fun and engaging activity where they made falafel from scratch and a crunchy corn and cucumber salad.
Our young people chopped vegetables, drizzled seasonings and rolled their falafel mixtures in to balls. Once the falafel balls and salad were ready, they tasted their meal.
Our pupils enjoyed all the different textures of the ingredients, the food tasting and most of all having their parent by their side during this learning experience.
School Food Matters believes that every child should enjoy nutritious, delicious and sustainable food at school and leave with an informed and positive relationship with food. Thank you to School Food Matters for sharing their expertise and knowledge on how to engage young people in making healthy meals and trying new things. It was a wholesome, learning experience which was enjoyed by all.
Below are some information documents on encouraging our young people to try new foods, how to talk about food and guidance for pack lunches.
